How to link a button to a website/PDF/documents & tokens in links
Follow this guide to learn how you can use buttons to link end-users to websites/PDF documents and insert tokens in links.
Linking a button to websites & PDF
Step 1: Create a button in your Approved Email using the components list. You can learn this by reading the article "Building an Approved Email using components"
Step 2: Select the button and scroll down towards the bottom in the modal window to the right. Here you will see an option to insert a link/hyperlink reference (href). This can either be a website or a direct link to a document stored in Veeva PromoMats.

Step 3: To insert a link, write the full path to the website. Example: https://www.google.com. Note that not all websites allow external linking, so make sure to consult with the department responsible for company links.
Step 4: To insert a link to a PDF or other documents, write the document ID as such {{$document_id}}.
The document you wish to use must be stored in Veeva PromoMats, categorized as "Material" and has to be "Approved for Distribution". It must also be linked in Vault to the template (EMT) in question as "Other Related Documents"
You can find the document ID as part of the link of the materials once you have selected it, or as part of the Global ID or Global Version ID as shown in the screenshot below.
Example of token use: {{$54143}} - for a document with ID 54143.

Also, make sure that the document allows for external viewing

Using token in links
Write the text you want to use, mark it and click on the link option in the little text editor menu. You will have to manually write the token, such as {{unsubscribe_product_link}} as an example:

Testing
You should generally test if links work by sending a test email via Salesforce to an actual mailbox.
Regular links can be tested from PromoMats in the preview panel and in the Activator, but again, it would be best to test it via a mailbox.
